A California-based grocery delivery service is now providing RVA residents with a fast, convenient service for their favorite local retailers.

Instacart, an online food delivery service recently announced its plans to expand to Richmond starting July 12. The service will allow customers to get essentials delivered right to their door from local retailers, like Publix and Wegmans, Publix, Whole Foods Market, Costco, Petco and CVS using their website or mobile app.

Richmond will be the latest in the area for Instacart’s services, which include Rockville, Goochland, Glen Allen, Short Pump, Wyndham, Dumbarton and Lakeside, among others.

According to a news release, with Instacart’s expansion into Richmond, the company will now service 190,000 households and create 100 new opportunities for employment.

“Over the past year we’ve seen incredible demand in the Richmond area,” said David Schloss, Instacart General Manager said in a statement. “Expansion into Richmond gives us an opportunity to expand service in the Virginia market.”Image may contain: one or more people, people sitting and food

Customers can have items delivered to their doorsteps in in less than an hour, or choose a delivery window for up to seven days in advance. Instacart has personal shoppers that go and pick out and deliver the groceries.

Instacart is providing a free, one-year Instacart Express subscription, which allows customers to have unlimited grocery deliveries over $35 for free. This offer expires on August 12. New Instacart users will be able to use the code HIRICH20 to get $20 deducted from a purchase costing $35 and over, as well as a free delivery. This offer expires on November 1.

Deliveries cost $5.99 for orders over $35 and $7.99 for orders under $35.
